本試験方法は，Global Assembly and Packaging Committeeで技術的に承認されたもので，Japanese Packaging Committeeが直接責任を負うものである。現版は2003年1 月10 日にJapanese Regional Standards Committee にて承認されている2003年1月にまずwww.semi.org で入手可能となり、2003 年3 月発行に至る。
本試験方法は，シリコンチップ強度評価のための，静的な三点曲げ試験方法を定義する。
