本基準は、global Facilities Technical Committee で技術的に承認されている。現版は2012年6月18日、global Audits and Reviews Subcommittee にて発行が承認された。 およびwww.semi.orgで入手可能となる。初版は1999年6月発行。前版は2007年3月発行。
本仕様の目的は，ステンレス鋼製溶接継手の製造者，溶接施工業者，およびエンドユーザ間における不安を守る，異径溶接継手の寸法を標準化することである。
本仕様は、 6.35 mm（1/4 in）、9.53 mm（3/8 in）、および12.7 mm（1/2 in）の、半導体産業で使用される機械加工された異径溶接継手エルボとティーに適用される。
