本スタンダードは，global Compound Semiconductor Committeeで技術的に承認されている。現版は2007年12月20日，global Audits and Reviews Subcommitteeにて発行が承認された。2008年2月にwww.semi.orgで，そして2008年3月にCD-ROMで入手可能となる。初版は2003年3月に発行された。

本仕様では，半導体および電子デバイスの製造に使用される結晶学上のポリタイプが6Hおよび4Hの単結晶高純度シリコンカーバイドウェーハの基板要求条件について記述する。
