Abstract
本仕様は、Global Physical Interfaces & Carriers Committeeで技術的に承認されたもので、North American Physical Interfaces & Carriers Committeeが直接責任を負うものである。現版は2004年12 月10 日North American Regional Standards Committee にて承認されている。2005年2 月にまずwww.semi.org で入手可能となり、2005年3月発行に至る。初版は1998 年発行、前版は2000 年6 月発行。
現在、デバイスメーカーは、装置の体積が予想不可能なため、ファブの計画あるいは変更を容易に行うことができないでいる。一般に、ファブのスペース利用は効率よく行われておらず、スペース効率と整備のしやすさの間には相殺的な関係があるように思われる。装置設計のガイドラインであり、また、装置の容量積と重量の限度に関する仕様である。
